Management Plans

  • The Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) outlines measures to mitigate environmental impacts during the Somerset Trough Project's early exploration phase. It provides guidance on compliance with territorial and federal legislation, protection of cultural heritage sites, waste management, water usage, minimization of drilling impacts, and wildlife encounter protocols. The plan includes inspection checklists and reporting requirements for spills, water usage, and wildlife observations to ensure adherence to environmental standards.

  • The Wildlife Management and Monitoring Plan identifies species of concern in the project area, including Peary caribou, polar bears, and migratory birds. It details strategies to minimize habitat disturbance, reduce wildlife encounters, and limit the impacts of aircraft operations. The plan also includes protocols for monitoring wildlife, assigning responsibilities, and reporting wildlife sightings and interactions, ensuring a proactive approach to wildlife management.

  • The Waste Management Plan details waste management practices for the project to ensure minimal environmental impact. It categorizes waste types, such as domestic refuse, hazardous materials, and recyclable items, and describes their appropriate handling, storage, and disposal methods. The plan includes infrastructure requirements, such as incinerators and waste staging areas, and emphasizes staff training to promote adherence to waste management protocols.

  • The Abandonment and Restoration Plan provides guidelines for seasonal shutdowns, progressive reclamation, and the final abandonment of the Somerset Trough Project site. It emphasizes environmental protection practices, including waste management, fuel storage, and the removal of equipment and structures. The plan also includes procedures for restoring disturbed land to its original state and outlines post-closure monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

  • The Community Engagement Strategy Plan describes Bronzite’s strategy for engaging with local communities, Inuit associations, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. It emphasizes transparency and collaboration, outlining methods such as written communication, community visits, site tours, and workshops. The plan highlights the importance of incorporating Inuit traditional knowledge, known as Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, into project planning and operations to ensure culturally respectful and informed practices.
